21 Gun Salute Banned By A High School In Iowa
April 18, 2016
The traditional 21-gun salute was banned by the administrators of a high school in Belle Plaine, Iowa on its Veterans Day assembly for this year, KWWL reported. The school believed that the traditional military honor should not be done on school campus as it violates the laws of the state.
However, a legioneer of Post 39 who lives nearby offered his own yard so that the assembly and the salute can go on. Belle Plaine residents and legioneers were all disappointed with the news as firing the rifles had been a safe and fun tradition for more than a hundred years now.
Post 39 legioneers believe that other schools in Iowa would soon follow what this high school did. The military tradition of 21-gun salute is done to honor the presence of the President, on the day of the President’s funeral.
It is really disappointing that anti-gun individuals and bodies do not recognize how guns had protected and defended Americans for more than a hundred years. Many people are now carrying their guns daily to be able to defend themselves on emergency situations.
Even the president and Representative Michael Bloomberg, who are anti-guns, have guns around them at all times to protect them. So this makes us all wonder, how come they are asking the people to stay away from guns yet they cannot do it among themselves first?
If we look at the other countries who have prohibited guns among their citizens, we will see that it brought tragic effects in their countries! In fact, in the year 2009, 92% of the mass shootings in America took place in gun free zones.
This anti-gun mania should be acted upon soon. It starts within ourselves. Let us open our minds and think of the advantages of having people armed at all times. Let us teach our friends, children, and neighbors that guns alone are not the killers. If we take them away from lawful carriers, we will take away their rights to defend themselves against danger as well.
